>encounters with a (legit?) sleaze

October 10, 2007 § 2 Comments

Denise and I met up for a Secret Mission. On our way to a coffee shop, we ran into a man, who said he wanted to take our picture. He told us he’s documenting street fashion for some website.

I was grossed out and wanted to move on, but Denise did that one-clap-clapping thing she does and before I knew it, we were agreeing.

“I just love your cardigan,” he told me, which won me over. But quickly after, he casually mentioned, “You can hold hands, if you want.” We weren’t having it.

Still, we let him take photos. He snapped a bunch of shots and told us that by the end of the week, they should be uploaded. After we left, we went to see if his website was legitimate. His site is here. I’ll keep my eyes out for the photos.

*reading: Collected Short Stories of Babel (Lionel Trilling translation)
*reliving high school with: Let Love In by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
*still needing to: take a bath
*still afraid of, but love: thunderstorms
*things missing after the move: the dress Kimberley and I found at a garage sale in Boston for my first big reading when I’m published; my collection of nail clippers; and a see-through summery dress that Mom and I found at a Housing Works thrift shop
*movie to avoid: Lust, Caution
