Gilbert and George at the Brooklyn Museum. One, two.

There’s something frightening about two people who are so collaborative, so connected; it’s claustrophobic (or am I homophobic?). Does a partnering like theirs mean a loss of individuality and identity?

There’s also an escapism in the narrative of Gilbert and George; it’s appealing to think of how much more Gilbert and George they are because they have each other.

Is there a third person shooting Gilbert and George’s portraits? Is it Gilbert and George and _______________? Maybe, I’d like to be ____________________ and follow Gilbert and George around for a while.
