This morning, I was supposed to attend a conference on Character Education in Albany with two of my co-teachers.

We made it through two propaganda-filled, conservative, and disconnected speakers before we decided to bolt.

It took a little convincing because one of my co-teachers was wracked with guilt, but once he was out the door, there was no going back.

We found an amazing diner downtown and spent breakfast talking about our students and real issues that actually pertain to our school.

This might be one of the best diner breakfasts I’ve had in a long time.

And the company was much better than it would have been if we had stayed for the free lunch at the conference.
