Saying goodbye to summer

September 2, 2012 Comments Off on Saying goodbye to summer

The last weekend of the summer has been sad and celebratory.

McCarren Park Pool closes at the end of the weekend, so we took one final trip on Friday with another mom and her baby. I can’t get over how great it is that the pool opened during Zevi’s first summer. She really loves being in the water and watching all the families.

Yesterday we hung out with an old friend of Joe’s and finally met his baby, who is about the same age as Zevi.

This morning, we celebrated Damien’s birthday with Joe’s homemade pepperoni ice cream, a concoction thought up by none other than the food scientist, Damien. She likes a good adventure and it paid off: the ice cream was delicious.

We spent the afternoon in Central Park with Veronica, first at the swings in Heckscher Playground and then wandering all over, mostly people-watching, a favorite pastime of my family’s.

There’s one more day left of this long, final weekend. We have plans to meet up with another family who have a baby Zevi’s age.

And then in the evening, we will say goodbye to this wonderful summer of adventures. Back to school and work, but I’m not going to think about that right now.
