Reflections Upon Reflections

We celebrated Veronica’s birthday upstate at the Kaatskill Kaleidoscope Museum/Gift Shop. Let’s face it: it’s more of a gift shop than a museum. A few months ago when Veronica was at my house, she marveled at our kaleidoscope. Realizing that she was deprived of such pieces of wonder in her homeland, I knew we had to show her the weird, beyond-categorization world of Kaatskill Kaleidoscope, a silly gimmick of a tourist attraction that might take itself a bit too seriously. None of us left empty-handed and/or empty-headed. Veronica now holds in her possession a beautiful little kaleidoscope of her own. And all of us enjoyed The March of History— for five dollars each, we watched a kaleidoscopic movie illuminating the history of America from the beginning of time through the present-ish. Hilarious, wacky, and well worth five American dollars, now Veronica has officially seen all that our beautiful country has to offer now. Zevi also seemed pretty impressed with her visit. This was a birthday celebration that we will all most likely remember for a long time to come.
